There are millions of pet owners who love their pets dearly and want them to lead a happy, healthy live of fun and to fit in well with the rest of the family.
But most of these pet owners don't subscribe to pet magazines so they have little information about the best ways to look after their pets and most pet shops I see, provide little in the way of support or educational marketing.
So I was very pleased to stumble across the Campaign For Real Pet Food. There mission is to promote honesty, openness and quality in the pet food industry for the benefit of pets and their owners.

Many years ago we rescued a golden retriever who had a severe gluten allergy and his previous homes couldn't afford the vet's fees. The skin on his stomach and chest had turned to scales as he had scratched himself raw and the rescue centre was feeding him on just potatoes.
He was an adorable dog with a lovely friendly temperament despite his years of suffering and torment.
Our vet worked miracles.
A regular injection each month and a proper, well balanced gluten free diet transformed his life completely and his skin turned back to normal and he had about five good years with us.
It may sound silly but in some ways I see this as one of my biggest achievements
He would still sneak out of the room for a crafty scratch every now and again but old habits die hard.
His problems were obviously - but the problems caused by a bad diet are less obvious for other pets but are the cause of health and behavioural issues.
