Double Your Business : How To Break Through The Barriers To Higher Growth, Turnover And Profit
by Lee Duncan
Book Review - 5 Stars
In his book "Double Your Business", the author Lee Duncan has revealed how any business owner can grow their business to the size that suits them.
He takes what some may find a counter-intuitive approach.
Some business owners may think that growing a business is easy. You just spend more money on marketing and attracting more leads and then the business automatically grows.
While that might work, it might not.

The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt and Jeff Cox
Book Review Rating - 5 Stars
"The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement" is an absolute classic book for anyone who is concerned with improving the performance of a manufacturing business or with process improvement in general.
First published in 1984 this book introduced the world to the Theory of Constraints and how much of the focus on improvement is misguided at best and wrong at worst.

Competitive and Corporate Strategy by Cliff Bowman and David Faulkner
Book Review Rating - Five Stars
"Competitive and Corporate Strategy" by Cliff Bowman and David Faulkner is a tremendous book and is my all time favourite book about business strategy. It is even better than Michael Porter's exceptional books "Competitive Strategy" and "Competitive Advantage".
Unfortunately this 1996 book doesn't seem to have been a commercial success and is not currently in publication although old and second-hand copies should be acquired as soon as you see the opportunity.
This "Competitive and Corporate Strategy" book really is that good!

The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
Book Review - 5 Stars
When a new client comes to me there are two books I recommend that they buy and read to help set the mindset for improving their business. One of those books is "The E Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber.
In "The E Myth Revisited", Michael Gerber explains why most small businesses don't work and what to do about it.
The style of the writing won't suit everybody and I do warn people that they have to persevere with it.
Finish "The E Myth Revisited" and it will change the way they think about their business.
To be contrary I don't ask people to start at page 1. That would be much too boring and predictable.

Competitive Strategy by Michael Porter
Book Review - 5 Stars
"Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and Competitors" by Michael E. Porter is a classic business strategy text and must reading for anybody who has a serious interest in business strategy.

It was this book combined with Competitive Advantage which established Harvard Business School Professor, Michael Porter's reputation as the preeminent thinker on business strategy in the eighties and nineties.
Like many leaders, you are there to be shot at and I find myself getting mad when I see his core ideas misrepresented and then criticised.
