Double Your Business : How To Break Through The Barriers To Higher Growth, Turnover And Profit
by Lee Duncan
Book Review - 5 Stars
In his book "Double Your Business", the author Lee Duncan has revealed how any business owner can grow their business to the size that suits them.
He takes what some may find a counter-intuitive approach.
Some business owners may think that growing a business is easy. You just spend more money on marketing and attracting more leads and then the business automatically grows.
While that might work, it might not.

Found Money: Simple Strategies For Uncovering The Hidden Profit And Cash Flow In Your Business by Steve Wilkinghoff
Preliminary Book Review
I get offered many books to review, both by well established and up and coming authors.
I had to ask for a review copy of "Found Money" (or at least drop an extremely heavy hint) because I was intrigued at the marriage of finance and marketing.
You see Steve and I occupy the same positioning.
Steve is a Chartered Accountant in Canada, I'm a Chartered Accountant in the UK.
Steve is a Certified Guerrilla Marketing Coach and so am I.
Steve has big name author friends (Michael Gerber wrote the foreword of Found Money, Michael Port and Jay Conrad Levinson are among the big names giving praise for the book on the back cover) and I don't.

Instant Cashflow by Brad Sugars
Book Review - 4 Stars
Brad Sugars or Bradley Sugars is the founder of Action Coach, the world's biggest franchise of business coaches.
He is also responsible for a series of insipid books on management which only seem to be lowed by those connected to Action Coach but, guess, what?

Guerrilla Retailing by Jay Conrad Levinson, Elly Valas and Orvel Ray Wilson
Business Book Review - 4.5 Stars
This specialist book in the Guerrilla Marketing book series promises "Unconventional Ways To Make Big Profits From Your Retail Business" and I thought it delivered exactly that.
While Jay Levinson,s name goes first on the book cover as the creator and owner of the Guerrilla Marketing brand, I know from previous books that most, if not all the writing has been done by the other two authors.

Guerrilla Profits by Jay Conrad Levinson and Stuart Burkow
Book Review - 2 Stars
I am working hard to like "Guerrilla Profits: 10 Powerful Strategies To Increase Cashflow, Boost Earnings & Get More Business" but I have picked it up and put it down three times in the hope that next time I will be "more in the mood".
I should love the combination of Guerrilla Marketing and Jay Abraham / Dan Kennedy style direct marketing with its profit focus.
But I don't. This book is tough to read and the words don't connect in any meaningful way.

The Ultimate Marketing Plan by Dan Kennedy
Review - 4 Stars
I am going through an intensive Dan Kennedy phase at the moment and have just finished reading "The Ultimate Marketing Plan Third Edition" by Dan S. Kennedy.
It is a book that has given me mixed feelings so let me explain why.

E Myth Mastery Audio Book by Michael Gerber
Audio Book Review - 1 Star
Warning. I like audio learning but do not be tempted to buy the "E Myth Mastery" audio book by Michael Gerber.
The "E Myth Mastery" book received a 4 star rating from me, which was actually 5 stars for content less 1 star for the drivel in the first section and the sloppy, sentimentalism that kept appearing throughout the book.

The E Myth Mastery by Michael Gerber
Book Review - 4 Stars
If you have read "The E Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber, thought the messages were really powerful and you are attracted to the E Myth way, then "E Myth Mastery" is the next logical book to read unless you have the money readily available to jump straight into an E Myth coaching project.

Complete Idiot's Guide To Guerrilla Marketing by Susan Drake & Colleen Wells
Book Review - 4 Stars
This book has a misleading title.
"The Complete Idiot's Guide To Guerrilla Marketing" is written by Susan Drake and Colleen Wells and has no connection with the Guerrilla Marketing concepts created by Jay Conrad Levinson and the Guerrilla Marketing Coaches.
There is Guerrilla Marketing and guerrilla marketing

Marketing Judo by John Barnes and Richard Richardson
Book Review - 3.5 Stars
"Marketing Judo: Building Your Business Using Brains Not Budget" is by John Barnes and Richard Richardson is designed as a book for anyone who wants to build a brand but doesn't have a big budget. It recounts the story of how the authors risked everything to create a worldwide brand for Britain's national dish - fish and chips with the Harry Ramsden's brand.
My Introduction To Marketing Judo
I heard about Marketing Judo when Richard Richardson was interviewed by Peter Thomson as part of his Achievers Edge monthly audio newsletter and I thought it sounded fascinating.

Startup Guide To Guerrilla Marketing by Jay and Jeannie Levinson
Book Review - 4.5 Stars
One of the most recent additions to the Guerrilla Marketing series of books is the "Startup Guide to Guerrilla Marketing: A Simple Battle Plan for First-Time Marketers" by Jay and Jeannie Levinson.
That's right.
For the first time Jay Levinson has collaborated with his wife Jeannie to write a practical, how to guide to Guerrilla Marketing.
I loved the latest edition of "Guerrilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson and whilst I like the idea of the more focused Guerrilla books (e.g. Guerrilla Publicity, Guerrilla Negotiating) I was sceptical about whether the world needed another general Guerrilla Marketing book.
I thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad that I did.

The Chic Entrepreneur by Elizabeth Gordon and Leanna Adams
Book Review - 4.5 Stars
I don't realise just how male dominated our society is until someone (usually a woman) hits me over the head and makes me challenge my views of the accepted norm. Elizabeth Gordon and Leanna Adams have done that with their excellent book "The Chic Entrepreneur".
Who Are Elizabeth Gordon and Leanna Adams?

Business Health Check by Carol O'Connor
Book Review - 3 Stars
"Business Health Check" by Carol O'Connor is designed to help entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses to identify the symptoms of business ill-health and build a lasting structure for growth.
Carol O'Connor has identified eight management areas essential to business success although these are different to my Eight Pillars of Business Prosperity.
The advantage of breaking the complex issue of business management into a number of key areas is that it means that attention can be focused on smaller areas while still seeing how the more specialised area fits into the whole business picture.

The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
Book Review - 5 Stars
When a new client comes to me there are two books I recommend that they buy and read to help set the mindset for improving their business. One of those books is "The E Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber.
In "The E Myth Revisited", Michael Gerber explains why most small businesses don't work and what to do about it.
The style of the writing won't suit everybody and I do warn people that they have to persevere with it.
Finish "The E Myth Revisited" and it will change the way they think about their business.
To be contrary I don't ask people to start at page 1. That would be much too boring and predictable.

"Success In Small Business Is A Laughing Matter" by J. Phillips L. Johnston
Business Summary Review
Business advice with humour is the intended message from "Success In Small Business Is A Laughing Matter" by J. Phillips L. Johnston.

Unfortunately I'm reading the BusinessSummaries book summary version which is minus the cartoons and anything remotely funny so I'm just left to judge the book on the hard-nosed business advice included in the book.
