Who hasn't used the analogy of a sports coach to promote their business coaching practice?
I know I have to make it clear that:
- Even Tiger Woods has a coach to help his golf game
- You don't have to be a great golfer to coach great golfers. In fact it can be the other way around. A sports star with oodles of natural talent finds things incredibly easy but doesn't understand how they are done.
I was interested to read the story of Tom Steitz.
Tom Steitz was the Head Coach for the US Olympic Nordic Combined Skiing Team in 1988 and was appointed after it had finished last that year’s Winter Games.
He’s now a leadership consultant who works with big companies like Johnson & Johnson and Hewlett-Packard.
