I have been given complementary access into the Guru Home Study for just a few short hours before the launch to give you a Guru Home Study Review - or at least a Guru Home Study Impression.
If you have read some of my other reviews you will know that they are long and intensive. I make it clear what is included and who I think the product suits and who it doesn't.
You are not going to get that but I will do my best. (Update June 2009 I am now a member of the Guru Home Study program and have started writing a more extensive Guru Mastermind / Home Study review)
May 2010 the Guru Home Study course is being replaced by the Guru Blueprint program.

You can buy the Guru Home Study course (compensated affiliate link) from 3:00 pm EST today.
Guru Home Study Home Page
As soon as you log in you are greeted with a nice clear welcome page
This gives Eben a chance to help you to work through the course in a structured way.
First he wants you to start the time management training with Wake Up Productive - this will help you to organise yourself and harness your energy whilst working through this intensive course.
Next you need to block off the key dates in your schedule so you don't miss the chance to be involved live (if possible - this will probably be Pacific time based with horrible hours in the UK and Europe).
Third there is a welcome to the Guru Home Study course webinar on May 26th (at 6:00 pm Pacific - so that is 2:00 am in London and 3:00 am in Paris)
Focusing Your Time In The Guru Home Study Course
I like courses which try to give you payback on the purchase price as quickly as possible.
So if you are new to information products, the first task is to create one - so you watch the Content Summit.
If you already have an information products business and you bought Guru Home Study to make it better and more profitable, Eben recommends that you jump to the Conversion Summit.
Makes sense to me and if you peer carefully at the screen capture, you will see that the menu down the left hand side says:
- Home
- Content Summit
- Conversion Summit
- Customer Summit
- Summit Reference Materials
- Bonus Nuts & Bolts Training
- Bonus Four Pillars Training
- Bonus Leading Launches
- Training Schedule
- Training Archives
Guru Home Study Review - Content Summit
You are taken straight to the videos which you can choose to download as mp4 or wmv files. It doesn't say how big the files are which I always think is a nice touch and it is not clear how long the videos are which is also useful.
I have a big preference for courses which allow me to download the videos since it saves my download limits and once I've got them I don't suffer irritating speed problems. It also means that I can stop and start videos at times convenient to me.
The other big advantage of being able to download the videos is that you can play them at a faster rate with Quick Time. It helps to keep my attention. I also believe in the power of repetition so I can watch something 3 times at 150% speed in the same time as I would watch it twice at normal speed.
The Content Summit is organised into eleven sessions of videos with most sessions split into two videos.
- Introduction to creating information products (1 & 2)
- The psychology of teaching and learning (1 & 2)
- Sell value not information (1 to 4)
- Communicating so people pay attention and stay engaged (1 & 2)
- Creating products that sell themselves (1 & 2)
- How to influence large groups of people (1 & 2)
- How to organise your ideas and products using frameworks - Eben went over one of these in a webinar I listened to yesterday. Very interesting and thought provoking about how, if you just communicate in one learning style, you are not connecting with 70% to 80% of the people. (1 & 2)
- How to communicate with your audience authentically (Rose Cole)
- How to write an ebook in a matter of days (1 & 2) (Mark Widawer)
- Secrets of lighting and shooting professional video (1 & 2)
- Real world content and product creation (1 & 2) (Alex and Andrea)
As you can see, this is a wide ranging group of topics that tackles the information product creation from a philosophical angle with the psychology and frameworks combined with practical advice for ebooks and videos plus the marketing element being brought into product creation stage.
Guru Home Study Review - Conversion Summit
Eleven more sessions in the Conversion Summit
- How to overcome your inner blocks to marketing conversion success (1 & 2)
- Getting your prospect to imagine themselves buying and using your product (1 & 2)
- The psychology of motivation and conversion and how to apply it (1 & 2)
- Creating your conversion story (1 & 2)
- How to relate everything back to the emotional need of your customer (1 & 2)
- Translating the value of your products and services (1 & 2)
- Your Action Equation - how to trigger your customer to buy (1 & 2)
- How to quickly create marketing that sells (1 & 2) (Frank Kern)
- Taking risk away so your customer can buy with confidence (1 & 2)
- Conversion in action - tactics for increasing your conversion (1 & 2) (Alex and Andrea)
- Conversion coaching - details that make the difference to conversions (1 & 2)
As I type all this out I feel my excitement about the Guru Home Study growing and these titles are certainly whetting my curiosity.
Hopefully I will get chance to delve into some of the contents before I lose access but I am trying to give you a clear idea of the contents.
So often with these big Internet product launches you buy on faith that the stuff is going to be great but you don't really know what it is that you are buying.
Guru Home Study Review - Customer Summit
Eleven more sessions in this section plus a bonus making twelve.
- Introduction 1 & 2

- Search engine marketing (1 & 2)
- Key insights from first sessions (1 & 2)
- Core customer generating skills (1 & 2)
- Partnerships, endorsed marketing, affiliate marketing (1 to 6 plus bonus)
- Long term proactive commitment
- Implementation and success stories
Looks a great complement to the Conversion Summit.
Guru Home Study Review - Reference Manuals
Videos are a great training technique but I take a lot of my information in from reading and I am an active reader with my highlighter and red underlining pen which helps me review bits that particular struck home.
So I am pleased that the Guru Home Study program includes a full transcript of the Content Summit, Conversion Summit and Customer Summit.
These are nicely presented - and certainly better than many I see although they would still benefit from screen shots being added etc.
The Content Summary reference manual is 199 pages from start to finish and rather confusingly it is separated into Disks 1 to 6. This means that the transcripts don't nicely match the videos or even the eleven sessions. There are no headings and subheadings beyond Disk 1 etc.
The Conversion Summit Reference Manual is 185 pages and the Customer Summit is 187 pages long. The same comments apply as each is organised across 6 Disks.
Guru Home Study Review - Bonuses
The bonus sections at this stage are empty except for one video but you have plenty to be getting on with.
Guru Home Study Review - Training Schedule
The training schedule shows dates and times for the extra webinars for the bonuses and you are certainly going to be busy.
As expected the times are convenient for the USA, bad for Europe as they are in the middle of the night.
Initial Impressions of the Guru Home Study Course
My walk-through of the Guru Home Study course is now complete and the contents looks very thorough.
I like the fact that the training materials are presented in both video and text formats to suit different learning styles and needs but it would have been nice to see the mp3 alternative as well. I do quite a lot of my listening while I am walking my dog.
Obviously Eben Pagan can't teach you how to be an expert in your niche - you are either that already or you will have to carry out the research yourself or outsource it.
The contents is comprehensive in that it will teach you how to create your information product and then market it on the Internet.
I was very interested to see that there are seven video (length not known) devoted to finding and working with joint venture partners and affiliates. I am now well enough established to be approached regularly but many don't know how to do it in a way that captures my interest.
Guru Home Study Review - Sample Videos
The videos are the live events scheduled by Eben Pagan as part of his Guru Mastermind coaching program.
I don't have a chance to watch many of these so here are a few thoughts
Conversion Summit - Psychology of Motivation
Eben Pagan has an excellent presentation style, clear and measured and in this session he explains the concept and brings members of the audience up to go through their ideas.
It is (unintentionally) funny because of the first character but I get the impression that the conference is in a fun learning style. Not crazy like Frank Kern making people where Viking helmets but humour is used to how communicate the message.
This first video is 36 + minutes long and looks at making a connection from your prospect's irrational fears to you, your product and business. As Eben says, too much promotion is about the product (rather like this review) and not focused on the customer.
It is very good and it is a great taster for the Guru Home Study. Of course I jumped into session 3 which is building on content in sessions 1 and 2 because customer motivation is a topic I am particularly interested in.
What is interesting is to see how Eben's background in the dating and relationship industry has tuned his mind to the power of the emotions, how that triggers desires and longings and how marketing can be similar to seduction.
Guru Home Study Course Review Assessment
From the little bit I have seen, the Guru Home Study course is even better than I was expecting.
My recommendation is that if you want to create and marketing information products and to be seen as a guru or expert you should give it try and order it while it is available.
Guru Home Study (compensated affiliate link)
I haven't seen the sales letter yet but the email from Eben Pagan that has come in while I have been looking at this makes it clear that there is a strong guarantee.
This is how Eben puts it
"I'm offering a "stupid-proof" no-questions-asked refund policy. You get to try the entire course for a month, and THEN decide if you want to keep it. If you don't, just ship it back to me and I'll give you a full refund. No questions, no hassles."
Sounds very clear and fair to me.
What Do You Think About The Guru Home Study?
Have you find my review of the Guru Home Study program helpful? I would be interested to read your comments.
Or have you bought the Guru Home Study course - or perhaps the Guru Mastermind coaching? If so, then please add your thoughts as a comment.
It helps people considering buying Guru Home Study. There are so many false reviews out there on the Internet.
