Just watched Boyd Matheson on iLearning Global and his "Checkers vs Chess" video.

Light on content but enthusiastically delivered and Boyd Matheson makes an important point.

The basic idea is to answer whether you are:

1. Reacting to what is happening around you - as in a game of checkers or
    
   
2. Whether you make things happen in line with your strategy.

Many small business owners are put off by the idea of strategy - because they think it is too time consuming and moves them away from their necessary day to day activities of working in the business.

I liked Boyd's idea of allocating just 15 minutes a day to think about your strategy.

You have to start somewhere - and you can find 15 minutes can't you? That's enough time to knock out one or, if you get good, two Guerrilla Marketing plans.  

One Minute Entrepreneur Don Hutson

I watched Don Hutson in his video "The One Minute Entrepreneur" - also the title of the One Minute Entrepreneur book he co-wrote with Ken Blanchard.

Don is a great speaker and this video was him speaking live on stage - very short but extremely entertaining.

My only gripe is that the video title is a misnomer.

The video is actually about growing the top line of a business and in particular how in selling, buyer trust and stress are inversely related so the old high pressure sales tactics no longer work.

Why?

Because trust is low and stress is high - and that's not the mood to encourage a prospective buyer to reach for his or her credit card.

Good stuff and more reason for supporting the decision to invest in iLearning Global.
