Frank Kern is releasing a series of videos to promote his Mass Control Monthly Membership Program.
I don't have any connection with Frank Kern and he is one of the big Internet gurus that I am missing out on as far as affiliate links but my Inbox has been buzzing with people pushing these videos.
I decided to pay attention for several reasons.
Frank Kern is a great example of a Maven personality that Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham have talked about in their Maven Marketing program.
You see Frank Kern is a "cool dude" and the first video shows his links to rock'n'roll and the surfer lifestyle. It may sound corny but in my view Frank carries it off with great charm.
Even more important is that from what I have seen in the past, Frank Kern produces great free content.
Video 1 - Copywriting Made So Simple
Here's the link - try not to be put off by his legs. Watch Frank's videos and you do get used to them.
Frank tells the story of the StomperNet launch (again but hey it is still reputedly the biggest Internet marketing launch) and explains who he had been landed with the task of writing the copy but he was stuck.
Fortunately he was with John Carlton at a seminar and John gave him three simple rules to cut out all the nonsense that clutters many sales letters.
- Here's what I've got
- Here's what it will do for you
- Here's what I want you to do next
It doesn't follow the classic direct marketing guidelines which are derived from AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) but I like the way it cuts to the chase.
The video shows the success that Frank Kern has had with this simple method. It may not work in every situation but I like the refreshing approach.
Video 2 - The Rubber Neck Effect
In this video Frank Kern shows using his own email examples a simple way to double the email readership rate and that's the first stage in your sales process.
Based on Frank's evidence it seems that a negative headline (what went wrong, bad news) is out-pulling more positive headlines (free stuff) by a factor of at least two to one.
Hence the name "rubber neck effect" since it is so hard not to look at a road accident.
I don't know why we are attracted so much by this but when you stop to think about it, newspapers are often full of bad news so perhaps our minds have been trained to respond to be curious about negative headlines.
Video 3 - The Forbidden Secrets of Opinion Implants
The third video is one you need to see if you are a marketer (online or offline).
In this excellent free video Frank explains how to control attention (by entering the conversation in the prospect's mind and using the rubberneck effect) and then how to control opinions by implanting opinions through disguised content.
Intentionally over-promotional but he makes some very interesting points about you can introduce evidence from other people to help your promotion.
Video 4 - Seven Offer Strategies for Continuity Programs
More "good stuff" has been released by Frank Kern overnight to provide the Mass Control Monthly Membership program and in video 4 Frank explains seven different offer strategies.
- The surprise - sell the front end product to the stage where the prospect wants to buy but then give it away for free in return for a trial of a continuity program. An example of this used by Frank and one I will be writing about is Ryan Deiss and the 43 Split Tests.
- The front end magnet - give away the front end for free (plus a charge for shipping to validate credit card details) in return for a trial of the continuity. This is the offer Frank Kern is making himself on this promotion.
- The Columbo - the continuity program is added into the offer after the prospect is sold on the front end product with the continuity trial added as a bonus. This is an approach used by the Nitro Blueprint System with Trafficology.
- The continuity sandwich - where the front end product is sold and the customer is given the option to trial the continuity program between the sales page and the order form.
- The $1 trial - sell the front end for $1 with a free continuity trial. Matt Bacack has used this recently.
- The free trial - pay nothing now, try it for 30 days and then if you stay a member we will bill you. The Guerrilla Marketing Association uses this option.
- Straight sale - just promote the continuity program. Rich Schefren is using this technique with his new Cash Maps
Frank Kern emphasises that it is important to avoid being sneaky with the continuity program since people will feel cheated. You should also make it easy to cancel.
Frank Kern's Ethical Bribe
All this promotion is to tempt people to try Frank Kern's new Mass Control Monthly Membership Program but to do it, he's pulling you in with an ethical bribe.
He is offering a BIG package from me ...with 9 DVDs and over 140 pages of reports shipped right to your door
for free.
To quote Frank "This is a *blatant* bribe to get you to try out my Mass Control MONTHLY program, which has never been offered to the public before."
Sounds interesting doesn't it. I just don't know how much the monthly program will cost.
I'm Collecting Frank Kern Resources
I have the Rich Schefren New Beginnings Home Study where Frank Kern did a great presentation and I had two DVDs included when I bought John Reese's Traffic Secrets 2.0. In fact I nearly lost those because I was throwing away the cardboard box and out fell these DVDs from Frank.
Here is the snippet from Frank at the Strategic Profits conference February 2008.
Guess I'm Weak
Frank Kern made the offer and I couldn't resist.
A no-brainer.
Get all this top quality stuff for free and give the Mass Control Monthly Membership Program a try for free for 30 days.
It sold out the reputed 2,000 places very quickly.
The Mass Control Monthly Membership Program is expensive at $297 per month so it will be interesting to see how successful he is with the continuity scheme.
Certainly a lot of people will have seen Frank's videos, the recent ones and for the earlier launches and love the style and content but been reluctant to dig deep in their pockets.
I suspect the offer has attracted a lot of free-loaders who will cut and run and in all honesty, the Mass Control Monthly Membership Program has to keep delivering top quality information that:
a) is relevant to me
b) I watch or listen to
c) I can and do put into action, and
d) makes me more money.
for me to stay in the program.
A $29 a month scheme you may let slide for a while but a $297 price certainly focuses the mind.
So let's take a quick look at the numbers.
The cost for printing and having the DVDs produced isn't going to be much and post and packaging is covered by the person buying.
If all 2,000 bail out of Frank's program quickly it will cost him money but it is small beer to a superstar Internet marketer who can make millions.
If all 2,000 stay for a month it generates a cool $594,000 and creates 2,000 who have been exposed to more of the Frank Kern ideas and many of whom may love the stuff but find it difficult to justify the ongoing stuff. But they are receptive to new offers and probably feel a little guilty.
You'd get the same $600k if 75% bail immediately but the remaining 25% stay for four months.
Higher retention and longer in the Mass Control Monthly Membership Program and the numbers start getting silly so you can certainly see just how big a potential play this is for Frank Kern.

Stumble It!

I am attracting a lot of hits at the moment for the question "how to cancel Frank Kern mass control monthly program".
My freebies only came yesterday so at the moment I'm not sure whether these hits reflect a low value content in the Mass Control Giveaway or that as predicted, a lot of people piled into the offer with no intention of paying for membership.
Mind you at the $297 I think Frank may have pitched it much too high since it does focus the mind and force you to ask "Have any made any more money from this?"
Anyway to answer the "how do I cancel question", the terms of the Mass Control Giveaway say:
You can cancel within 30 days and never be billed. You can also cancel your subscription at any time after the 30 day trial period is over.
You may cancel by submitting a cancellation request at frankkernhelpdesk.com or by calling the customer support number there.

I feel terrible as I have bailed out of Frank's Mass Control Monthly program.
Why did I do it?
The $297 monthly fee focuses the mind and because I'm in the UK it took too long to get here.
Within days I had StomperNet's Stomping The Search Engines to review and a chance to make some money.
If you have read my review of Stomping, it is clear that I devoted a lot of time to it and I can't see me going back to the Mass Control too quickly.
I have a long list of things to do to my blog and website and I haven't even opened John Reese's Traffic Secrets 2.0 which I paid good money for.
Now we have Rich Schefren about to roll out a launch and Rich is the Internet guru I pay most attention to.
Frank Kern has been squeezed out by his mates and while I may let a $50 dollar program run for months to see, the $297 is just too heavy.

I am a believer in JVs.
Whether I wish to participate depends on what it is.

Frank Kern is a complete scam - if he was straight up he would provide a membership cancellation option on your membership page; he does not. The entire infomillionaire product is based on people being too lazy to contact their bank to have the credit card transactions cancelled. End of story. I was a member, and am in the process of getting it cancelled. Do not buy any product from Frank Kern or his co-scam artist Trey Smith. Look out for some warning videos to be posted on YouTube. 2 can play this game Frank.

Jerry
Thanks for your comment on Frank Kern and Infomillionaire.
My experience has been very different.
I joined Mass Control Monthly and cancelled with one email - great lead in content but the $297 monthly fee was too rich for me.
I joined InfoMillionaire and cancelled with one email - more about the technical stuff I don't want to do.
I bought Mass Control and that is very good.
I do agree on a general point.
Any membership scheme should make it easy and simple to cancel and should encourage continuity by providing great content rather than having members who feel trapped.
Personally I think it is wrong to create massive hype on the membership launches with huge giveaways since that attracts people who may not be suitable for the long term.
