Domain scalping?
There’s something in that name of the latest small program from Ryan Deiss which makes me want to wince.

It’s an interesting story going back to 1840.

What I Think Of The Domain Scalping Concept
The Domain Scalping course comes complete with 300 pages of training, videos, 4 weeks of coaching and a private members message board for $97!
That’s a lot of content for the money on what is an interesting idea for trading domain names.
Like let’s get social, this is another JV between Ryan Deiss and someone who makes money using the technique covered in the training.
I‘m split on the concept.
I must admit I have a weakness for buying domain names just in case they come in useful because “I’ve had an idea”.
But my focus is on business improvement and Domain Scalping is a business opportunity.
The difference may be subtle but it is a line I’m reluctant to cross.
I believe in business building rather than opportunity seeking (see 7 Steps to Unstoppable Income).
But for someone interested in making a quick return on their investment, then Domain Scaling looks interesting.

I haven’t reviewed the program itself and I can see that the more people who make money from domain scalping, the more difficult it is to find new opportunities.
There is a limit to the number of good domain names and the people willing to pay big bucks.
I buy from the registrars direct and I’ve been frustrated when a domain name I wanted was taken but not being used… but I’ve never had the urge to put in a bid.

What Do You Think About Domain Scalping?
If you’ve bought Domain Scalping or had a look at the video, then I’d be interested to hear your opinion.
I try to encourage open debate on this blog.

In response to a similar question about competition upsetting the domain scalping market, Zack Booker, the creator of Domain Scalping sais
"Every day hundreds of thousands of domains are bought and sold. And it's been like that since the early 2000's.
The fact is without domain names there'd be no internet as we know it. The potential in the methods I talk about are HUGE in terms of how many domains are out there and how much profit potential there is. I mean, for one method that I just added today which is one of my favorites, there's probably a few hundred thousand at least GOOD domain name variations that haven't yet been registered. Probably quite a few more than that really.
Obviously I can't go into much detail. But think about how many sites are on the internet, and think about how many domains there are. People all paid at least $5-10 for those domain names.
If everyone who bought the course bought 10 domain names today there wouldn't even make the smallest difference in overall domain sales for today.
BUT we are going to limit the number of copies sold, not because of any worries whatsoever of saturation, but because I enjoy not working a whole lot and want to be able to help people (like I did with the WSO) on a personal level. And if we have 100,000 students I just can't do that."

If you can make a few hundred dollars by flipping one domain, then the $97 looks great value...
if it is your type of thing.
As I said in my blog, I see Domain Scalping as a biz op program and as a coach, my focus is on business improvement.

There have been some high profile legal cases which I understand mean you can't jump on cocacola.com because you spot they use coca-cola.com - I'm not a lawyer and I know nothing.
Name websites are boring anyway and the opportunities lie with benefit driven easily remembered domain names e.g. cheapcarloans.com which may match nicely with a popular search term and can be used in advertising campaigns.
