I love the way Ryan Deiss does his video sales letters and find them very compelling to watch. (Do check out Video Sales Letters where Ryan tells you exactly how he does them – it’s a superb training program – affiliate link).

The one thing that did strike me as strange was talk about keeping the complete system away from the outsourcers who John Limbocker uses so they don’t rip him off… but now many people will buy Rank Mogul.

I’ve been given the chance to review Rank Mogul and first impressions are very favourable although I’ve not yet been through the individual modules in detail.
Do I know about SEO to make an informed judgement about Rank Mogul? Well where did you find my Rank Mogul review in Google and what do you think of my Alexa score?
Rank Mogul is well put together and structured with videos, downloadable mp3s and plenty of pdfs.
It is structured into different sections:
- Getting started – an overview of Rank Mogul with Ryan Deiss and John Limbocker.
. - Module 1 – fundamentals of SEO
. - Module 2 – optimising content for inbound links
. - Module 3 – creating an authority website
. - Module 4 – pushing your website to the next level
. - The next step
. - Outsourcing – these are instruction videos to pass on to people doing the hard grind.
. - Getting clients for local SEO services
The main modules are then split into a series of videos organised by topic.
The Getting Started introduction in Rank Mogul is a bit long-winded but at the same time inspiring. John has a great lifestyle as an SEO expert because he outsources the mundane tasks. It then takes you through the four step process John uses to run his business.
Rank Mogul then moves into a Q&A session with people from Ryan’s Perpetual Traffic Formula and Let’s Get Social programs.
Module 1 covers competitive analysis, keyword research, domain names, site structure and tags in five separate videos/mp3s. These work better as videos.
Module 2 of Rank Mogul includes articles, press releases, videos, comments and posts.
Module 3 takes the item in 2 and looks in more at submitting to other sites together with directories and other inbound links.
Module 4 picks up social bookmarking, RSS feeds and extra videos on even more options for inbound links.
As you can see, the core four modules of Rank Mogul are comprehensive. John delivers the training at a nice steady pace which won’t overwhelm beginners and intermediates but may seem slow for advanced SEOs.
I think I’m pretty good at this stuff (in theory – doing it is another matter) and I found it interesting to hear the extra thoughts and insights of a specialist..
I really like the idea and ability to be able to outsource the linking building and having the ability to download and send videos with the work I want done. Some of this stuff is time consuming so if you can outsource it, do.
Rank Mogul also includes a Resources guide which includes the various checklists needed for the SEO services and documentation to help you to manage your SEO business (if you set yourself up as a local expert).

Using Rank Mogul To Sell Local SEO Services
Rank Mogul says that SEO is easy to sell to local businesses.
The level of knowledge in small businesses is very low but they know they have a website which isn’t getting traffic because it doesn’t rank in Google.
Unfortunately I've seen an element unscrupulous people in this area ripping off small businesses because of their ignorance, charging big fees for a very basic listing in Google Places.
Hopefully you’re not going to do that since you want to build a long term business based on on-going fees and that means playing fair with your clients. Ultimately success depends on attracting more sales and profits for the clients' businesses which are well in excess of your fees.
It’s also recommended that you work on an exclusive basis because you don’t want to be competing against yourself. How you define the keywords/areas is critical to the scope you give yourself and will also impact on the work necessary to get to the top of page 1. This is covered in the training.
Also included are sample campaigns for direct mail with a proven letter technique and postcard. I like them both.

Can You Become An SEO Consultant with Rank Mogul?
I prefer stuff that’s business improvement rather than business opportunity. Rank Mogul counts as both.
Fine to put the system to work for yourself but things are a little different if you need to convince a small business owner to part with money for services.
Buyers want to feel confident you can deliver on the promises you make in your marketing and sales and personally I’d need more than a low cost course (no matter how good) to have the confidence to go out to the market and feel credible for clients who are competing on a national level.
But clients who get their business from the local area are very different. It is easy to rank well for most local search phrases if you know a bit about SEO and bolt in extra keyword coverage with Google Places and Adwords.
Rank Mogul is another product like the Nitro’s Local Business Money Machine (much more expensive) which is targeted at the “want to be” local internet marketing experts.
If that’s what you want to do, then get it but don’t expect it to be the entire answer – if it is, then Rank Mogul would be a steal at this price.
I’m impressed with how far it goes but you still need to make things happen.
You’ve got to go out and build your business and that means marketing and networking with small business owners who have under-performing websites.

Getting Best Value From Rank Mogul
My advice is to test the Rank Mogul method on your own websites first so you gain confidence and develop your own compelling evidence that you can do what local businesses want to buy.
If you don't have a website, get one. You can't be a credible Internet marketing / SEO expert if you can't show off your own "top of Google" positionings and it's easier if some clients come to you because they've found you in the search engines.

If you do want to use Rank Mogul as a business opportunity to become a local business SEO and Internet expert, you could add an extra service with social media marketing. A client may want one, either or both so watch the Let’s Get Social video (affiliate link).
The Let's Get Social has been a huge success with thousands of copies of the training sold. Rank Mogul hasn't done as well.
I think this is the wrong way around. Social media is a fad and the big thing at the mopment but the regular money will come from dominating the search engine listings and you do that through SEO and Pay per Click.
