I have a large and popular Typepad blog which I've been very happy with until October 2010.
I don't understand why but i seem to have some kind of conflict between Typepad and Windows 7 which stops me writing new posts or editing old ones.
The Typepad program starts to load a post but just hangs, forcing me to exit the browser.
(I;m writing this on a notebook which runs Microsoft XP).
The problem started when came out of hospital at the beginning of October and two major changes happened:
- My Typepad subscription lapsed because the membership couldn't be renewed because I have a new credit card.
- My Norton 360 anti-virus software also expired
There may well have been a Windows 7 update as well. These damn things just seem to happen without warning.
I went into hospital able to use my Typepad blog fine although I wasn't writing much because I felt so rough.
I came out of hospital and renewed my puchases, updated Norton and tried to blog and I was stuck.
I thought it was a conflict with Norton and so did Typepad support - although they had recently updated the posting experience earlier in September 2010.
But the Norton support people took me through a process of deinstalling Norton and I was still stuffed so it was installed again.
Then my Firefox add-ons were blamed - so they all came out.
Still I couldn't access Typepad to write new blogs.
But i could on my little notebook also now with an updated version of Norton 360 and my normal Firefox add-ons. It worked fine.
The big difference between my desktop and the notebook is that the first has Windows 7, the second XP.
Typepad support then suggested that i use Windows Live Writer and for a few weeks that worked great. It's an easy interface to use and pretty convenient.
But then I have a conflict with that too - unlike with Typepad I can write blog postings fine but I can't publish them. That's even more frustrated.
I've de-installed Windows Live Writer and installed it again.
No luck and no success.
I'm stuck at the moment. The only way I can write a Typepad blog is on my little notebook.
I've thought about buying a new PC - blogging is that important to me because it underpins my affiliate income.
But i'm scared - if there is a genuine conflict between Windows 7 and Typepad then I'd be back where I am now having wasted time and money.
If you are having the same problems, I'd love to hear your stories. If you haven't tried Windows Live Writer, then give it a go.

It's taken a long time but i'm delighted to report that my conflict between Windows 7 and Typepad seems to be fixed.
I can now start new postings and edit old postings.
I didn't do anything special - I'm on an automatic windows update and every 2 weeks or so I would see if I could start a new blog.
Until Friday I couldn't but now - as if by magic - I can.
I'm delighted because it puts my Typepad blog very much back into play.
