The Maven Marketing Coaching Program from Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham has been marketed to Business Growth System clients in the last few days and I realised that I had never got around to doing a review.
The training looks at how you become the go to expert in your niche, the recognised authority that everyone looks up to.
It's a powerful position to have and both Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham own their positions with reputations that are renowned across the world. They've also helped plenty of other people to claim maven positions of their own.
If you haven't downloaded or read your copy of the Maven Marketing Manifesto, then you should do so while it is still available (affiliate link).
There are two main elements of the training:
- DVDs of a 3 day workshop that Jay Abraham and Rich Schefren put on before a big Strategic Profits event back in 2008.
- Mentoring calls that were done with attendees and buyers of the Maven Home Study program.
The resources have also been supplemented by extra trainings from the vaults of these two experts of things that will help you to refine your positioning.
The Maven Marketing program is good but I don't think it's as oustanding as the Business Growth System or the Guided Profit System. Both of these are excellent.
I'm a big fan of Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham seperately but I didn't feel they worked that well together. If you are familiar with both, then you'll know that they are very different thinkers. Rich is very structured and very logical. Jay isn't but comes up with moments of brilliance as his mind slices and dices and approaches issues from angles you don't expect.
You may love this contrast of styles but I found it a bit irritating as I wanted more of Rich and less of Jay.
I haven't done as much with the Maven Coaching program as I should have done, partly because I was extremely reluctant about specialising. This was a case of "do as I say and not do as I do" since I encouraged clients to specialise and niche. In the last six months I have become much more focused with my Business Differentiation blog.
As a standalone program, should you buy Maven Marketing?
Yes if you want to develop the authority position, then you'll find it very helpful. There is real value in establishing a maven position.
If you're budget is stretched, then I recommend that you pass on Maven Marketing and join the Founders Club (affiliate link). There is a long webinar called Instant Expert which Rich summarised the key concepts of maven marketing down and there's plenty of other stuff to help you focus.
If you're already a Business Growth System client, I'm not so sure. If I was you I'd go back tthrough the training to focus on "how can you become the go to guy." While I'm an information addict myself, I think that people are often better off repeating a learning experience than taking another course.
You'll miss out on some of the special nuances in the Maven Marketing course but with the content of the Founders Club as well, you've got a lot to go through and concepts like the core myth will guide you in the right direction.
I think, properly applied, you've already got a lot of the stuff you need to build your Maven profile. See how far you get and if you need to finesse your position later on, come back to Maven Marketing
