There's a problem with successful Internet marketing.
It makes you lazy.
That's why I thought it would be useful to look at how Amazon promote the Kindle.
Amazon.com is the world's 11th most popular website according to Alexa and that's just targeted at the United States. The UK has their own Amazon.co.uk which is 106th in the world and 10th in the UK.
For dedicated Internet marketers, it doesn't sound like Amazon need to do much more marketing.
They dominate the search engines AND use pay per click.
The Kindle is promoted on their home page.
They have thousands of affiliates who will promote the Kindle and other products on their websites.
But they haven't stopped there.
Amazon have negotiated a distribution deal with Tesco, the largest supermarket retailer in the UK. You can pop into a store and buy the Kindle and walk out with it.
Pick up a paper or a magazine and you might see an advertisement for a Kindle. I did on Sunday.
Or watch the television and you'll see another promotion for Kindles.
Best of all is the word of mouth referrals. Being seen using a Kindle creates conversations and a chance for non-Kindle users to have a little try themselves.
Amazon haven't rested on their laurels.
The time for the KIndle is now and Amazon know that they need to get as many eyeballs on the Kindle and the offer as often as possible if they are going to maximise the opportunity.
Should you be doing an Amazon?
Have you got lazy because you've got page one of Google rankings for your important keywords?
I know I have.
