I am a Manchester United fan and one of the ways I used to find to "not work" was to taken part in the debates on the Manchester Evening News website into football issues.
There were some numbskulls who wanted to make things nasty (City supporters irritating United fans and United fans annoying City supporters).
But there were also some great debates, just as you'd have in the pub with your mates over a few pints.
Then for some reason Manchester Evening NEWS (MEN) changed their commenting policy and restricted it to Facebook users only.
I hate Facebook.
I was persuaded to set up an account some years ago but I never go there. It doesn't feel like a good place to be to me.
Perhaps it's a generational thing.
But it meant that I stopped commenting on the Manchester Evening News Site on issues about Manchester United.
I got some of my day back but I liked the debates.
I searched several times to find out where the old MEN commenters had gone because I couldn't believe that they'd stopped altogether.
I didn't have any luck and it didn't seem as if people like ISDEP, Bobbydazzler, Gerard Glynn etc were appearing on any of the other United blogs or forums that I'd sometimes visit.
Then I found out about ex MEN - a forum for the people who used to comment on the Manchester Evening News.
Hallelujah.
