Jeff Walker is publishing a new video later today (Tuesday June 15th 2010), Product Launch Disasters to help promote the launch of Product Launch Formula 3.
The first video was basically - gurus love product launches because they make lots of money (although not as much as you think) - you can catch it at Product Launch Gurus (affiliate link).
This is how Jeff described the second video to me.
But it's about a whole lot more than that, including crazy stuff like:
- The MOST IMPORTANT LAUNCH EVER
- How a newbie started from scratch with no list, no product, and no partners
- The "Product Launch Parachute"
Before it's released I thought we should have a bit of fun, by trying to predict who Jeff will name in his product launch disasters.
I don't think he's going to focus on the flops - the launches that failed miserably because the basic offer wasn't strong enough or the launch process squeaked rather than roared.
Instead I expect the focus to be on technical problems and embarrassing blunders.
Product Launch Disaster 1
First up, Mr Product Launch Formula himself, Jeff Walker.
When Jeff did the Product Launch Formula 2.0 launch in March 2008, we got to launch day fine but the pent-up demand was so high his servers really did crash.
Even worse I had just hit the pay button and I wanted his fast action bonus. It was a dilemma - did my first $1997 payment go through even though I didn't get a confirmation email or was I booted out by the system.
I bought again - lucky I'd got an extra $2k on my credit card.
Product Launch Disaster 2 - More Of A Blunder
Mike Filsaime is famous for launching a product - the Seven Figure Code I think - with virtually no copy on the order page and this was before the days of the video sales letter.
He forgot to load the sales copy a few minutes before launch and then couldn't get on to his own server. It was still a huge success and showed that with a product launch formula approach, you copy is virtually irrelevant.
Product Launch Disaster 3 - Avert Your Eyes This Was Huge
I have no doubt that the biggest launch disaster happened to Andy Jenkins and StomperNet with the Stomping The Search Engines 2 launch
A great product but the launch was a complete cock-up.
The only other phrase I can think of to describe it is ruder.
Here's the full story in all its gory details.
Stomping the Search Engines Launch Dramas
I don't think there's anything that has been worse than this, unless you know different.
I'd love to hear about other product launch disasters.
This is our chance to laugh at the gurus.

Just saw Jeff Walker's new video... he promised "product launch disasters" and "carnage" - and he delivers.
In fact, he even trash-talks some of the big name guru-club.
That part didn't surprise me. After all, Walker always delivers.
But then he pulled the rug out from under me... this video way exceeded anything I ever expected:
