Rich Schefren has introduced the Business Founder concept in a great video on the Strategic Profits Blog.
Background for the Business Founder
In his famous report the Internet Business Manifesto, Rich Schefren made the clear distinction between a successful strategic entrepreneur and an unsuccessful opportunity seeker who kept jumping to the next big idea or opportunity.
I have always argued that while Rich is the "guru to the Internet marketing gurus", many of his ideas and concepts apply just as well to the traditional businesses in the offline world.
The Business Founder Concept
If the opportunity seeker chases the money like a dog in a field of rabbits chases one and then another until exhausted, the entrepreneur builds and shapes a business but sees the business as the end point.
In contrast the founder sees the business as the means to the end to create both financial and personal freedom.
The Business Founder creates a business that works so effectively, the founder can be away for two years and returns to a bigger, better business.
The Business Founder Video
The Business Founder Video is on the Strategic Profits blog and is 54 minutes long.
It consists of an interview between Rich Schefren and Todd Brown, VP of marketing for Strategic Profits.
The first 3 minutes is a bit "shouty" as Todd hypes it up but that seems to be his style. Try not to let it put you off.
