The 6 P's Of Marketing Version 8
This version is a little different and is summed up in a definition of marketing and I quote...
"Marketing is the process by which sellers, Person Number Two, Promote and sell their goods & services, Product, to buyers, Person Number One, in the marketplace, Place, for a Price."
This is the traditional four plus person number two (the seller) and person number one (the buyer).
You can read more about it at
http://www.scruples.org/web/seminars/pssb/chapter4/sixpsof.htm
The 6 P's Of Marketing Version 9
This version is the first one that has strayed away from the traditional 4 P's of marketing and has the following:
Plan
Pick
Price
Package
Promote
Prove
I think prove is an important principle as customers get jaded to hype.

My Thoughts On the Six P's of Marketing
As you can see, there is no common definition for the 6 P's of marketing.
Each has added into the traditional 4 P's extra elements to emphasise particular issues.
Personally I think purpose or profit are major elements missing. Purpose only appeared in version 3 but I think forcing intentionality into your marketing planning is of vital importance.
You just have to look at advertisements on Tv and in magazines with a critical eye and you immediately find yourself asking "What are they trying to do?"
Selling from a page, branding for position and just getting the brand name are different and many advertisements don't even achieve any of those purposes.
I was taught the 4 P's of marketing and the 7 P's of service marketing. I'd have liked to have seen more special applications, like the 6 P's of Luxury Marketing or a radically different configuration.
What Do You Think Of the 6 P's Of Marketing?
Do you think any one of these versions of the marketing mix is more powerful or relevant than any of the others?
Do you think any is more established as a definitive 6 P's of marketing?
Do you know of any other different versions of the 6 p's of marketing? If so, please add them as comments and include a link to a webpage where there is more detail.
