I was asked to look at a video on YouTube and I found these in the "related videos" category.
Brad Sugars, Founder and Chairman of ActionCOACH, the world's biggest business coaching franchise explains why you should have a business coach.
I thought that the benefits the videos provide in explaining business coaching out-weighed the ActionCOACH promotion.
Just click on the little triangle and listen to Brad. He is a very effective communicator.
As the market leader, I appreciate ActionCOACH promoting the business coaching concept. One of the biggest challenges is to encourage business owners to start thinking of doing something different and opening themselves up to asking for help.
It is also good to hear Brad promoting ActionCOACH's variation of business mastermind clubs. You can learn so much from other business owners who have already been there and done it.
If you are a regular reader you will know that I have mixed views about Bradley Sugar's books that I've reviewed so far:
Instant Cashflow - recommended
You will see that from what I have seen, the ActionCOACH methodology is derivative of leading experts like Jay Abraham, Michael Gerber and Jay Conrad Levinson. I don't have a problem with that as they are all featured heavily on this blog.
Why Have I Featured Brad Sugars Promoting ActionCOACH?
Because this blog has a much wider readership than I could ever cover myself.
If Brad Sugar has said something that makes you want to pick up the telephone and call a business coach in your local area (whether it is ActionCOACH, another franchise or an independent) then I see that as a valuable contribution.
It Is All About Mindset
How high are your goals?
If you aim to improve by 10% in 2008, you know that you can do that by making a few minor tweaks and changes. You just have to work a little harder or a little better.
But what if you want to improve by 100%?
You probably can't work twice as hard so instead of working harder, you have to work smarter. You have to open yourself up to new ideas and be prepared to try different things.
You have to be prepared to step outside your comfort zone.
If you don't set goals, then shame on you. They do help to focus your mind and help you to see appropriate opportunities.
You may not reach your goals. Some people do, some people smash them but many people make some improvement but don't quite reach the goals they set.
Someone I was talking to yesterday wanted to set modest goals. He didn't want to feel a failure by not achieving his goal.
I then explained that according to research, if you set a 10% improvement target you might improve by 8% but if you set a 100% improvement target you may improve by 50%.
Which do you prefer, 8% or 50%?
To miss by a little and make modest gains or to miss by a lot and make major improvements.
By stretching yourself, you know that you have to change. If you always do the things you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.
The famous quote "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" seems to have been attributed to Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin.
A business coach or a marketing coach will help you to identify your vision, stretch your ambitions, help you to identify the steps and teach you how to grow your business.
You Get Help But It Is Down To You
You still have to do the work. You may be given great ideas by your coach but if you don't implement, you won't see the benefits.
If you don't commit to trying new ideas, measuring your progress and analysing performance with interest, you won't see the improved results.
If you can't discipline yourself to manage your time and focus on your most important priorities, you will be wasting your time. A business coach will teach you how to manage your time but it comes down to you doing it.
