I have just been listening to a call about the launch of iLearning Global, a new way of personal business development put together by Brian Tracy, Bill Bartmann and a few others which is attracting the cream of trainers, consultants and speakers.
It is a very interesting idea and similar to how I saw DT Alpha from Stephen Pierce working out. Unfortunately that never moved forward beyond the promise although Stephen's DT Alpha blog is excellent.
The iLearning Global Deal

I have just bought the Piranha Marketing CDs by Joe Polish which Nightingale Conant sell and I'm reading through the workbook.
Good stuff - Dan Kennedy influenced marketing with some interesting twists along the way.
So I decided to follow Joe Polish on Twitter.
And one of his recent posts sent you off to the recordings of an interview with Sir Richard Branson.

In my car at the moment is a copy of Dan Kennedy's six CD series Magnetic Marketing and I'm really enjoying the way Dan builds up the case for marketing and learning more than I expected.
I also found this video which Dan gives a shortened Magnetic Marketing speech - as he is an expert at selling from the stage, people would watch this presentation and then rush to the back of the room with their credit cards out - you have been warned.

I have just been reading the Simpleology / Mark Joyner blog and I learnt that what are often quoted as the "twelve most persuasive words" based on research by one of the leading US universities was a made up hoax.
Here are the words:

I like the tools which teach you a little more about yourself like the Kolbe A Index or Axiology based value profiles but both of those cost.
Thanks to Yanik Silver, I discovered a free survey from Steve Little called perfect Biz Finder which give you an assessment of your best role in business as it forces you to choose between various alternative answers for 48 statements.

At a time when the UK economy faces a sever recession and the latest statistics show that huge parts of the country are 60% or more reliant on public sector expenditure, the government is accused of failing to support the entrepreneur.
And today I received an email from Companies House announcing the increase in fees for late filing accounts - including dormant companies - so bureaucracy triumphs over the idea of cutting red tape.

I am in a reflective mood today and whilst it may be a strange question to ask when you are working harder than ever to fight off the recession, but "What would you do if you retired?"
Some entrepreneurs and managers will find that they have more time on their hands than they want if their businesses fails and may find themselves asking;
- What is my life all about?
- What do I want to achieve?

One of my little interests at the moment is to use the Micro-blogging website Twitter to help my business interests and to form a closer connection with followers as well as see what other people are doing.
I was going to write a "How to Twitter: a beginner's guide" but then "IT dealmaker" Mark Shaw beat me to it so asked for permission to re-publish.
Getting Started with Twitter: What You Need To Know
I am sure by now that there are a lot of you that are using Twitter. But there are still probably plenty of you that don't get it, don't understand it, and are not using it... So I just wanted to highlight why you may want to use it, but also to point out that Twitter is not the be all and end all.. Twitter can be one single string in your overall marketing plan.

Last year I was thinking about adding a Forum to my blog because it gives you the chance to ask questions and discuss issues that matter to you rather than to follow my lead.
But a friend of mine, Rob Warlow created the Small Business Success Forum and I decided that we had more chance to create something good if we combined forces rather than competed.

I read a blog today on mistakes made in advertising and whilst I agreed with much of the contents since it drew on proven direct marketing principles, there was one statement I disagreed with strongly.
"Businesses that thrive during a recession double or triple their usual advertising budget"
It seems to me that potentially we have the classic cause and effect confusion and faulty logic suppositions.

My Business Coaching Blog came a long way in 2008 but one of my regrets is that I did not focus enough on on bringing you articles about creating excellent customer service.
All my ideas for increasing your sales to and through your existing customers rely on you delivering the excellent customer service your customers can depend on and confidently build into their own business strategies.
And when it comes to customer service, one customer service guru stands out and that is Ron Kaufman.
