The business books I have reviewed in October on my Business Books Blog include the following seven books on marketing, selling, business growth and leadership including a classic from Ken Blanchard and a specialist Guerrilla Marketing book:
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell - this book has been an immense success but it took me a long time to read it after several false starts. Interesting ideas but I thought it was over long.
Leap! 101 Ways To Grow Your Business by Stephanie Chandler - a first impression of a book I was sent a review copy. This looks to be a great book for entrepreneurs looking for new ideas.
Gung Ho by Ken Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles - three simple lessons from nature to fire up the employees and transform the organisation. As with other Blanchard books, based around a story.
Management Worldwide by David Hickson & Derek Pugh - a book I first covered in my MBA studies which builds on Geert Hofstede's ideas on the differences between cultures and how they affect business.
Guerrilla Retailing by Jay Conrad Levinson, Elly Valas and Ray Wilson - a specialist Guerrilla Marketing book for the retail industry. I'm not a retail specialist but I thought this was one of the best Guerrilla Marketing books as it is packed with ideas for the smaller retailers to fight back against the chain stores.
The Quality Pocketbook by Anthony Mitchell - while Total Quality Management may be passée and is certainly no longer the next big thing, the improvement ideas that underpin the hype are still very relevant. Work will always be done in processes.
The Sandler Rules by David Mattson - the Sandler Selling System® translated into 49 simple rules. Best to start with something that teaches you the basics of the system first although many of the rules apply, even if you don't use the Sandler system.
If you have read any of these business books, I'd like to hear what you think so click through to my review and leave a comment.
