Did you know that many owners of small businesses often feel lonely?
They carry the weight of expectations of creating a successful business:
- from themselves and their strong desire to succeed;
- from their families who normally have an insatiable desire to spend money;
- from any employees who are looking to the business for security and advancement;
- from customers who are looking for marketing promises to be kept and expectations exceeded;
- from suppliers who want to be paid and continue to profit from the relationship.
There is a lot of pressure and the pressure builds if things aren't going well.
One solution is to work with a business coach or business mentor in a one-to-one relationship.
A low cost option is to work with other small business owners in a similar position to you in a mastermind.
The idea of masterminding was popularised in Napoleon Hill's classic book "Think And Grow Rich" based on the success stories of 500 of the most successful men in America at the start of the twentieth century.
Your Small Business Mastermind
I am in the process of putting together a number of small business masterminds of up to seven people for a weekly one hour mastermind.
Because I'm a bit of a butterfly, the masterminds will cross a range of business issues and niches.
The mastermind structure will the the same because it is too good to change.
It is based on a proven mastermind template which dates back to Andrew Carnegie, (the steel magnate and considered at one time to be the richest man in America). Andrew Carnegie was the man who introduced Napoleon Hill to the concept of masterminding and inspired him to start the twenty years of research into success which form the foundation of Think And Grow Rich.
The Small Business Mastermind Blog
Those who watch how I promote my business won't be surprised to know that I have started a new blog:
And yes I am one of those "it does what it says on the tin" marketers so there is no fancy name.
The purpose of the Small Business Mastermind blog is to promote small business masterminding in general and my small business masterminds in particular.
I have started with two niches I know particularly well:
Coaching Mastermind Group - a mastermind for coaches who want to develop their business, provide more help to their clients and make more money. This is on my Business Coach News blog.
Part Time Finance Director Mastermind Group - a mastermind to help qualified accountants providing services to SMEs to market their businesses and deal with professional issues. This is on my Part Time Finance Director blog.
So What's So Good About Masterminds?
It is a small group of business owners who come together in a spirit of cooperation to help others and receive the help of others.
Your mastermind is created to help you to move forward in business step-by-step making improvements each week as you seek help and get feedback.
You also have the chance to learn from what other mastermind members are asking.
The focus of the mastermind is on building momentum in your business, from moving from ideas into action because you are able to focus on what is holding you back, ask and get help and commit to achieving your goals.
It's a lot of fun to be part of a great mastermind and it is inspiring as well. It is such a positive experience and you get help, advice and feedback where you need it most when you need it.
