I love the ideas behind Guerrilla Marketing and I applaud Jay Conrad Levinson for recognising in the early 1980s that small business marketing is very different from big company marketing.
The first Guerrilla Marketing book was published in 1984 and since then, the brand has become very famous because the ideas work.
The basis of Guerrilla Marketing is to replace the big budgets of big companies with time, imagination and knowledge so that small businesses can market effectively and economically.
The imagination issue has meant that Guerrilla Marketing has been hijacked from time to time by "stunt marketing" designed to get publicity for a brand without putting over the basic values. For me, that's not Guerrilla Marketing.
