Marketing Bingo - Do You Win Or Lose?

Marketing Bingo is a game I have created for checking how distinct your marketing message is from your competitors.

It works best when you look at marketing methods which group competitors together so that a prospective customer or client looks at one marketing message and then another and another before deciding to take action e.g. your website from a search in Google or the Yellow Pages (this makes the game Website Bingo or Yellow Pages Bingo).

How To Play Marketing Bingo

Write down the key factors which you want to emphasise in your marketing to attract your target customers.

Then go to your competitors' marketing and start crossing off the common areas.

Chet Holmes Has Leukemia

I was very sorry to read the news yesterday that Chet Holmes has leukemia.

When I first started my blog in 2007 I wanted to share my ideas about business improvement and the ideas of people I particularly respected - what I called the eight business development superstars.

Chet Holmes was one of those people with his book, The Ultimate Sales Machine.

I wish him well in his battle against this serious disease.

I told very few people about my own serious illness last year and certainly not while the outcome was in doubt.

Chet Holmes has created a special blog - Caring Bridge to share his story.

Chet is in for a tough battle but through the power of positive thinking and the support opf others, his blood count is showing some amazing improvements.

He's in for a tough time. I found my chemo tough to bring my Wegeners under control and I continue to struggle with the medication I'm on at the moment to suppress my immune system..

Update On Chet Holmes & His Battle Against Leukemia

After the initial email announcing the bad news, I heard little about Chet and his progress and his Caring Bridge blog hasn't been updated for a while.

I started to fear the worst.

Then I checked his Twitter feed.

Chet is back at work part time and feels that he is making progress in his battle and is feeling stronger.

Inevitably these things do change your perspective as this tweet shows.

Are Dumb Spam Comments Ruining Your Reputation?

OK I know that I have a popular blog which gets a lot of traffic but I can't believe how many dumb spam comments I get which say nothing and mean nothing.

Why do people comment on blogs?

Either they've got something to say on the debate or they want to attract traffic from one website to another or to get an SEO benefit.

Let's deal with that last point first.
