Perhaps the biggest challenge any marketer has in the 21st century is catching and retaining the attention of their target market.
To be blunt, there is too much advertising and promotion.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, you will see commercial messages.
And because of the Internet, everyone knows that they can get the information they want and need, when they want it. They don't have to take into account the activities of pushy marketers.
Prospects can afford to ignore marketing messages until they are ready to collect information ready to make a purchasing decision. They have learnt to ignore advertising and marketing.
Often, it's just not seen by the conscious part of the brain.
Try it for yourself. If you've read a magazine or newspaper in the last few days, who was advertising? If you watched TV last night, what advertisements do you remember seeing?
Attention is an enormous marketing problem.
