Beauty and the Beast
The beauty is my Italian spinone Gina, the not so hairy one is me...
It's difficult getting the right balance when you write a blog like this. I started a second blog Online Profits when I thought I was writing too much about Internet marketing.
Now I tend to ignore it here and I think that's a mistake for business owners who follow it through the RSS feed.
There are two recent things that I'm excited about.
Startling facts about how effective the different traffic-building techniques are for driving visitors to businesses’ websites were revealed in The Traffic Survey free report.
The survey by website software and training company Intellimon, in partnership with the University of Bradford, polled over 4000 online businesses to better understand the nature of challenges facing businesses marketing themselves on the Internet.
Earlier in October the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a ring of cyberthieves who stole $70 million in a direct attack on small businesses.
Today I learn that Aweber, perhaps the leading email service provider was successfully hacked and had email lists stolen which are now being spammed.
If you expensive website is not converting visitors into enquiries and sales as well as you need, then you should think hard about creating one or more video sales letters to present your selling points.
The success of YouTube has demonstrated that people have no problem watching videos for stuff that interests them... and if you've got the solution to your web visitors' problems.. they will be interested.
Twenty years ago we relied on direct mail, telemarketing and the Yellow Pages to reach potential customers.
Since then the Internet, email marketing and video marketing have become established as great ways to be found by those who are searching for solutions and to reach out and involve those who are getting ready to buy.
I think Google Adwords is very clever and the idea of putting your advertisement in front of people who are looking for what you provide is huge appealing.
It is a direct marketers dream as it is quick to use and you get plenty of feedback on what works... and what doesn't work.
But Google Adwords Can Feel Scary
It can be a bit scary to start using Google Adwords.
First it's on the computer and for some of us, anything that bit technical is daunting - I speak as a technophobe who quickly gets out of my depth.
Second, you have this fear that the money will run out of control. Send out 200 sales letters or postcards and you know how much it costs. Same with the advertisement in the local newspaper.
I am wary about writing too much about Internet marketing on this blog - it's why I have a specialist Online Profits blog - but I came across a promotional/training video I think you just have to find the time to watch if
you want to close more sales and conversions from your website
and you have thought... even for a moment... that a video would be nice... but it's far too complicated for you.
Today I want to introduce you to a new service from 8020 Marketing, The Hub.
The Hub is a one-stop Internet marketing solution for small businesses who want an impressive presence on the Internet, keep in regular contact with customers and prospects and even want to trade online but who don't want the hassle of working with lots of different systems.
How difficult is it to get to the top of Google for a phrase like "marketing and advertising strategy" and does it mean anything anyway?
I have just watched a video from a self claimed marketing expert about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and this is a subject I know a bit about myself.
The Deception Used To Sell SEO Services
This video commits the same deception strategy I see from people selling SEO services.
It's about creating false credibility and expert status.
Step 1, pick an impressive sounding phrase like "marketing and advertising strategy"
Step 2 then say "go and check Google and you will see that I know what I am talking about because I am top of the Google rankings".
As soon as I saw this product from Rich Schefren's coaching firm Strategic Profits, I thought that it sounded excellent, a strong offer and great value if you want to put oomph in your email marketing.
As paid advertising and promotion is expensive, more businesses should be turning to the Internet and taking advantage of what can be done for free so they can be found in Google and the other search engines.
While local search engine optimisation is important you should also take advantage of the special service that Google offers with the Local Business Center and Google Maps.
StomperNet and Paul Lemberg are launching their profit building and coaching program Formula Five at 3:00 pm Eastern (8:00 pm UK) on July 14 2009.
Formula Five - affiliate link
There has been some uncertainty about just where Formula Five fits in the market as Paul Lemberg is an internal renowned business coach and I understand that StomperNet are the world's largest Internet marketing training company.
Is it coincidence that more of the biggest name marketing and business gurus are turning their CRM system, email system, ecommerce system and affiliate marketing system over to Infusionsoft to help manage their backend marketing?
I was going back on some past emails today from copywriter John Carlton and discovered that his copywriting interviews with the top Internet marketing gurus are still available.
When John Carlton was launching his Simple Writing System last October, he interviewed some of the top Internet people about their copywriting techniques.
I have just posted a reflection of the law of reciprocity on my Online Profits blog asking whether the Internet and the free transmission of high value but low cost information has killed the law of reciprocity.
Is there an opportunity for you to boost your business with a successful product launch?
Jeff Walker, creator of the Product Launch Formula and the world's leading expert at using internet marketing to launch a new product (or to re-launch an existing product) announced last week that he is opening up limited spots for his Product Launch Formula 2.1 coaching on Thursday 13th November 2008.
Nitro Marketing are launching their Nitro Quattro promotion which is claimed to be a guide to how to make outrageous website profits based on using back end marketing.
A friend of mind, Karen Caine is close to completing her MBA from Aston University in Birmingham, UK and has to complete her dissertation in the next few weeks.
In return for completing a survey on the factors involved in choosing a website designer, Karen is promising to send a briefing document on choosing a web designer and developer.
The deadline to complete it is Monday 11th August and the survey takes about 10 minutes to do although I took longer because I included a little rant about some website designers.
