The secret is out and we now know what Rich Schefren has been up to for the last few months since he published the Maven Matrix Manifesto. He has been writing "The Complete Guide To Highly Successful Internet Joint Venture Partnerships."
Interesting. Very interesting.
Rich Schefren has built much of his success based on joint ventures and I remember the teleseminar series he did with Stephen Pierce and Jay Abraham a few years ago that pulled in an amazing amount of money.

A new client sent me some of his postcard marketing campaigns recently and I must admit that it is an idea I like.
I have never used postcards to promote my own business although other clients have used it with success.
Perhaps it's because my marketing strength is around words and not graphic design but it is something I want to try.
I am very much in favour of direct mail marketing provided you are using a targeted list and have a compelling letter (see my copywriting resources for tips and advice).

Today I want to reflect on Yellow Pages Advertising and in particular how to advertise in the Yellow Pages successfully.
Often this is more a case of not making some of the classic mistakes in the Yellow Pages ad.
Why I Am Looking At The Yellow Pages

Guerrilla Marketing During Tough Times by Jay Conrad Levinson
Book Review - 4.5 Stars
I bought the PDF ebook "Guerrilla Marketing During Tough Times: How To Steal Customers From Your Competitors In Tough Times" by Jay Conrad Levinson some time ago but it is becoming increasingly relevant as it is clear that the economies in the UK, the US and most of Europe will be in for some very tough times in the next year or two.
Take Advice From Those Who Have Experienced Recessions
The UK has recorded fifteen years of unbroken growth since the 1990-92 recession but only yesterday Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank said that the UK faces the most difficult challenges for twenty years.
I still don't think that people are facing up to just how bleak things could get as most economic forecasts are saying that UK growth will slow but not fall into recession. I fear they are wrong.

I don't talk much about the issues involved with building a profitable coaching business on the Business Coaching blog but I know that I have quite a few regular readers "in the industry".
Not a coach, don't worry, the same principles apply to many professional services.
In my web browsing I found this video from Milana Leshinsky, creator of Coaching Business Mastery and author of "Coaching Millions: Help More People, Make
More Money, Live Your Ultimate Lifestyle" which is worth watching although it has been produced to promote the program. Click on the B lying down and you find the other videos in the series.

Master Business Building Club is a membership site for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to be more successful and can cure a growing problem.
The Explosion of Information Leads To Overload
Ever since the mid nineties the Internet has exploded and with it, the amount of information available has increased exponentially to a point where there is total information overload.
I don't know about you but for all of Google's good intentions, whenever I search for information, I have to battle through spam sites.
Even when I get to what looks like good information from a respectable looking website, I'm never quite sure until I build up a relationship with the source that only comes from time and repeated exposure to the ideas.

It is nearly nine months since I started this Business Coaching Blog and as you can see, it has already grown to a very significant size.
Inevitably I started to think "what comes next?" and I had been weighing up the pro's and con's of a forum or membership site but some technical issues with my blog have given me a few headaches so I decided to hold back.

A petrol station owner (and entrepreneur) in Exeter in the South West of England has been accused of profiteering when it increased petrol and diesel prices from around the £1.30 per little to £1.99 per litre. The controversy has started me thinking about the question "When does profit-making become profiteering?"
The Situation
Shell tanker drivers are coming to the end of a four day strike which has stopped new supplies of petrol reaching garages although a second strike is scheduled to start at the weekend.

I came across a blog posting which examines Gordon Ramsey's turnaround method used in the TV programme Hell's Kitchen to turnaround struggling restaurants within one week.
Gordon Ramsey is a very well known chef and TV presenter but I was impressed by the seven step approach to business turnaround explained in Using the F-Bomb to Guarantee Your Success by Troy White.
The seven step turnaround process is:

Today I want to look at how "selling pain relief" can be used to persuade customers to buy based on the idea that people are more motivated to solve a painful problem than to seek pleasurable gains.
The Background - Away Motivation Is Moving Away From Pain
I had lunch with business growth expert Peter Thomson earlier this week and to help prepare for my meeting I listened to two of the modules from his excellent Accelerated Business Growth System.
